We made it! This was a strange year of school with Covid19 protocols in place and being online all morning in blended learning. The students were kind and caring to one another and we ended up learning and having some fun, too. Here are many photos ranging from our bean plants growing to Games Day to chalk and blocks fun at the end of the year. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer!

Today we went on an Earth Day scavenger hunt around the school. We looked for items in nature, but didn't take or damage nature. Division 18 had lots of fun and were very enthusiastic! We were lucky enough to find everything on the list. Here is the scavenger hunt we used if you didn't make it to class today and would like to join the fun!
Students made adorable chicks for Easter. Ask your child what they names their chick. They had some inventive ideas! We've had a couple chances to play on the playground now, too. There are many good climbers in our class.
This month our school superpowers are creativity and resourcefulness. Our goal today was to create art outside using found things in nature. Students could make a picture of something or a design using their found objects. They had lots of fun running around and gathering supplies. We are grateful that it was not raining today, too. The first photo is of one of our super readers who has completed 150 days of Home Reading. Impressive!
We made it to the 100th day of school! Hurray! It was fun to see all the 100s Day hats online and in person (last week) when we made them. We jumped for 100 seconds, grade 1s said 100 sight words, and Ks and 2s did the Macarena for 100 seconds. At school, students participated in a variety of 100 day activities, including attempting to build a tower 100 cm tall. It was really hard! Overall, we had a great day and ended it by playing on the playground.
Division 18 keeps reading books and completing their Home Reading Booklets. Some students have now finished 125 days of Home Reading. Wow! Keep up the great work!
During our animal unit, we are creating some animal art. The first week, students made an orca whale using Coast Salish shapes and colours. They practiced colouring, cutting, and gluing. This week, students made a frog. They practiced tracing around a shape (two different sized circles), rolling paper on a paint brush, cutting, gluing, and painting. Although this took more time than expected, the students seemed to enjoy painting. Their frogs are adorable, too!
Congratulations to our 5 Super Readers this week! They all completed a Home Reading booklet and traded it for a prize. Way to go!
Here are the students who came to school today standing in front of our classroom windows. Check out our reindeer with handprint antlers and the snowflakes we made from wax paper and liquid glue! We did a silly photo, too! Have a Happy Holiday everyone! Enjoy your Winter Break!
