We had fun at the spray park today! Thank you to all the parent helpers. Tomorrow is the last day of grade one for this class. Students have now brought home all leftover school supplies. Tomorrow they will all sign their special t-shirts and wear them home. Thanks for sending in board games today. The children were well behaved and seemed to have lots of fun playing with their friends in Mrs. Watt's class. Tomorrow we have an assembly and band concert in the morning and we're going to pack up as many school supplies as we can find. In the afternoon we're watching "Frozen". Students are welcome to bring one stuffy for the movie. Popcorn and juice boxes will be provided thanks to the PAC! Today we also had our Zumba assembly. Dancing fun! Jump rope for heart was a success. Thanks to everyone who donated to the heart and stroke foundation. On Monday we will be having our last Zumba lesson and then we welcome you to join us for a Zumba assembly at 10:40am in the gym. Wear your dancing shoes! Also on Monday we will be playing board games in the afternoon with Mrs. Watt's class. Feel free to send a board game labelled with your child's name on Monday. On Tuesday, we will be watching the movie "Frozen" in the afternoon. Students are welcome to bring a stuffy to school on Tuesday to "watch" the movie with us. Juice boxes and popcorn will also be provided. Tonight is the last night of home reading. Please return all books to school tomorrow. Hooray, no more homework in grade one! Friday will be our "jump rope for heart". Dogwood is collecting donations to help find a cure for heart disease. If you could please send in a loonie tomorrow and a toonie on Friday that money will be sent to the heart and stroke foundation. A notice and permission slip was sent home today for our trip to the spray park next Wednesday. We are walking so there is no cost. If you can volunteer to supervise on this trip, please let me know on the form. Permission slips are due this Friday please! Tomorrow is our grade 7 leaving ceremony. It starts at 12:45 and we will have a very full gym. This is a special time for our grade 7 students as they complete their time in elementary school. One of our Guided Reading groups completed their animal research projects. Here they are reading their reports to divisions 12 and 13. Tomorrow is our thank you parent tea. Please join us in the gym for entertainment (our class will be performing!) at 1:00 and then head over to the library for light refreshments. Thank you parents for all you do! We have finished up our plant unit. The students completed some beautiful pastel art showing vegetables growing underground. Here are some of the results: We made Canadian animals and their babies in their habitat out of clay with our big buddies. Check out the cute results: Last month of grade one! I sent home the June newsletter, calendar, Scholastic fliers, and hot lunch order form today. Please take a look at the calendar as we have a busy month ahead. We started Zumba lessons today with our instructors Clarissa (DJ C) and Tamara (Queen T). Our lessons are with the grade two classes. There were many smiling faces! The next lesson (of 4) is tomorrow. |
