On Thursday afternoon, we walked around the school looking for signs of fall. Students did a great job noticing all of the different colours of leaves. They also noticed some interesting seeds on the ground, like pinecones and a "helicopter" from a maple tree.
We have another Home Reading super star! Congratulations for completing the first 25 days of Home Reading! Enjoy your prize.
Hip Hip Hooray to the first four people to complete 25 days of Home Reading! Way to go! They each chose a prize from the Prize Box. There are still many more prizes to choose from, so keep reading and filling in your Home Reading booklet everyone!
We made a list of all the things that the students were thankful for on the Smartboard. Then students coloured their turkey and wrote the things that they are most thankful for. (Kindergarten students had help with the writing.)
Some students wore their mask for the photo and some took it off, but all students were wearing their masks for the rest of the day. Maybe we should have made little masks for our turkeys, too! We have had 5 in-class afternoons so far. Here is our class busily working on decorating their Care Pair Bears. Students who attend school in person will choose a Care Pair for the week and that will be their partner for in-class activities. After our stories and discussions about Orange Shirt Day, students made their own orange shirt design. We added a border to this display with our circle patterns inspired by the art of Wassily Kandinsky.
We have noticed that the areas outside of our classrooms have become a very busy place from 2:15 onward, creating a distracting learning environment for students and difficulties for students to exit their classrooms while still maintaining a safe distance from all of the adults gathered there. We ask that all adults picking children up after school to please wait on the grass area, meet your child on the other side of the bench area, then please move out of the area so that other students can move through there safely. Thank you for your support with this.
